I was in grade school. My 5th grade teacher probably had a rough time as a grade schooler and despised boys.
My mother had suffered from a pretty serious mental illness. She went through periods where she abused me to the point that i would come to school with pretty horrible bruises on my face / nail scratches on my arms / etc. Honestly had she been stronger / younger I'm pretty sure that I'd be dead right now.

No one in our community ever saw her as a person who would do that.

After coming to school with a ton of cuts and a bruise on my face I had told a classmate , in confidence, what had happened. They told my teacher.
My teacher made me get in front of the class and say that I was a liar and apologize for making up the lies.

This moment might have affected me more than the abuse, tbh.
