What was your worst hotel/AirBNB experience?

I walked in, the obese front desk clerk was unconscious - and considered 911 - until I heard a ground shaking snore.

A swath involving about 1/4 of the middle of the motel showed obvious water damage and was covered by plastic. Strong mildew smell.

I walked into my nonsmoking room and the room smelled so strongly of smoke, my eyes watered.

The smoke alarm was two wires hanging from a hole in the ceiling.

The towels were about 80 grit.

The HVAC unit appeared to have had fine adjustment performed by a sledge hammer or maybe it was just dropped from a 10 story building. When the fan clicked on it, clanged loudly.

The carpet: sticky, of course.

In case you're wondering, this was a chain and paid more than $70/night. I complained and they refunded the night.
