I’ve actually seen similar things in the media in part first hand.

A few years ago a news crew was going around asking anyone if they wanted to be on TV and have an interview about a factory closing down and replaced by a new road, causing hundreds to lose their jobs.

They asked one guy and when they asked him he said it was sad that people would be losing their jobs and that he didn’t agree with it.

The news reporter told him he needs to say that “it’s a good idea and it will make the area look visually pleasant”

When he said he doesn’t agree with that they basically pushed him aside and got someone else.

I watched the news report and they edited everything he said to make it look like he agreed with it all.
