My uncle apparently believes they were caught “in bed” and that the hammer attack was “a consensual act gone wrong.” He says someone had “proof” and “video” that the guy heard the door open and thought it was Nancy coming home to catch them.

I don’t know why any of that sounds more plausible and believable than that the guy bought into conspiracy theories and GQP bullshit and wanted to murder Nancy Pelosi. (And I’ve read the interview with his ex and another person who say he’s battled mental illness for years. As Marcus Parks said, mental illness isn’t your fault, but it is your responsibility. It doesn’t justify or excuse attempted murder.)
