After my ex & I broke up, I was surprised at how many people talked shit about me at work. We had this smoking area w/ a tall wall on both sides making it so you can’t see who’s on d other side if you’re behind it. Anyway, one afternoon (a few days after the split), as I was walking by the smoking area, I heard some guys talking about me & my ex. One guy said “how in the fuck was he able to land a chick like her?!”, then another replied with “how much you wanna bet they weren’t even together; he’s prolly one of those dudes that automatically think he’s w/ a chick once they start kickin it”. There was so much vitriol & malice w/ the way they said those things & these were guys I didn’t even know very well. It felt like I got Spartan kicked in the gut; I didn’t know how to react. I eventually turned the corner to the other side of the wall & walked through the middle of the smoking area. They all got quiet as I went by; I kept mostly to myself after that
