Keep every piece of paperwork you are given. When you get to Tech School buy a laptop and external hard drive. Take pictures of everything. Save all your LES statements. Or save or scan as a PDF. Eventually you will need a copy.

Put some money in TSP. At least the matching. Get access to the account and change to 50/50 C and S funds.

Besides your direct deposit account. Have a second one. Set up an allotment for a small amount. Be able to transfer money between them. One day you will lose a debit card. Or one bank will fuck up your account. You will still have access to money till the issue is fixed.
