What's something you actually don't want to do but social norm tells you to do it anyway?

Actually it shows that you are someone who takes offense easily. Obviously if you're a CPA then you fall into the "specialized skills" category and this doesn't even apply to you. This is why I said "unless" and not "you are unimportant and have no skills". So if at this point no one is knocking on your door, then maybe you should consider taking a look at your profile and consider a revamp.

I am more than willing to admit that I don't have the specialized skills that I would like to. I am more than willing to admit that I am not even that important. My main point is simply that everyone needs to step back once in a while and ask themselves what they have to offer. Very few of us are "important" and are most certainly replaceable. The sooner one realizes this, the sooner one can focus on the skills they do have and figure out their next move.

That being said, I've still managed to get some decent experience under my belt. Using this experience and focusing on my strengths, I've managed to move myself along through the interview process for multiple positions that usually require senior level experience.

Anyway, I didn't come here to argue. So if the right opportunities aren't coming your way, then look up how to use keywords in your LinkedIn profile properly. You should also consider directly contacting recruiters for the positions you are applying to.
