What's something that happened in your life you'll always be wrongfully connected too?

So this one time when I was 17 or 18 me my 3 best friends all worked at a car dealership together after school washing cars. It wasn’t a bad gig we had a lot of fun and got a way with a lot of shit. They also let us clean our cars if it wasn’t too busy a half hour before close. My one buddy, lets call him Justin pulled in his car one night to clean the inside of it out. Justin did some side jobs and he was helping one of the salesman of the dealership move or was cleaning his house, I don’t really remember but somehow Justin ended up with one of the salesman’s son’s toy guns in the backseat of his car.

So me being bored, with this gun that kind of looks real and decided to grind the orange tip off.(stupid, very stupid I know). Don’t think to much of it. Throw it in the back seat of his car. The dealership closes we each go home.

Next day go to start my car and my battery was dead. So I called Justin to give me a ride to school. Justin also drives alec to school everyday, our other co-worker buddy. We drive to school without incident. School ends, I call shotgun and alec sits in the back and Justin drives. Now at this point keep in mind the Sandy Hook tragedy has just happened a couple months ago at this point…

We walk out of school get into the car, goto pull out. Alec rolls down his window points the gun out the window, starts screaming at people to get on the ground and saying give me your money, and he is thinking this is a joke at this point. We pull out of the parking lot and I kept saying knock it the fuck off we are going to get in trouble and to just get me home. A few blocks away from my house there was a elementary school kid walking home… I kept saying don’t fucking do it. He rolls down the window and yells “yo” while Justin slows the car down a little bit. I freak out get dropped off at my house.

I end up getting my car jumped and meet them at work a half hour later. Our phones are blowing up by people saying the cops are stopping people asking questions and they posted something about it on Facebook. A lot of people called in and told them who it was. The cops showed up at both their houses, not mine thankfully. Goto school the next day get taken out of class by a police officer, walk past my principals office, he’s getting interviewed by the local news on it. I have to give my statement to the police about what happened.

Long story short they got in a lot of trouble, almost expelled. They got charged with felonies but they got reduced. I just hate my name will always be connected to that. It was all over the news and everything.

TLDR: friends pointed a fake gun at kids while in the same car I was in. The gun looked real not to long after sandy hook. It was all over the news. Hate being connected to that.
