What's something you were surprised to learn was only popular in your country?

Aw, I went to BC. Good memories of that area.

  1. It's just a social custom - if asked by someone close to you, you'd elaborate, but with acquaintances/random people, "well/good, how are you?" will suffice.

  2. It's considered polite when trying to maneuver around someone. Or if someone needs to move.

  3. Prevents food build up/unpleasant smells in your sink - even if you scrape your dishes into the garbage, debris always finds a way during rinsing. You can toss used lemons in, grind them up, and it will smell nice.

  4. You're in Bellevue. Come a bit further East (2-3 hours), and the 4x4s/trucks/SUVs get even more ridiculous.

  5. I don't even know. Popularity contest? Alleviates boredom?

  6. I never appreciated how much of a pain our pricing system would be for those not familiar with it. From sale price, bulk discounts, to just calculating taxes.

  7. Ranch is goooooooood. I have Jalapeno ranch that I use instead of sour cream on burritos. :S Also, good on pizza.

  8. I have an electronic kettle for french press/tea/cocoa. But usually, in the workplace/school they have a water cooler with a heated (red) pull for hot water. Otherwise you're stuck with the stove or microwave. I also find that not many people have electronic rice cookers either (not the more modern ones, anyway).

  9. I'm not even sure about this one. I just mind heavy turn-lane traffic. Sometimes it could be due to not pressing the cross walk button, but at the same time, many cross walk buttons aren't even hooked up.

  10. You're near Seattle.

  11. They should have an option for higher denominations.

  12. Debit cards usually require a PIN, unless it's a low amount. Credit cards don't often do -- I don't encounter surprise on that one, but it might be because chips are more frequently used in the city.

  13. Might be an older house. I usually push the pins together a bit, but I'm sure that's bad.

  14. I actually don't know.

  15. I have the opposite problem, as most showerheads are adjustable (on a pivot) and as my housemates are taller, they tilt them up - which means it's directed at my face.
