What's something your employer did that instantly killed employee morale?

Heard this story from a friend who worked there.

UNH Dining:

They had just cut staff and replaced a few full time positions with student help. They were just about finished up with opening which meant almost no student help until the students were hired, and also they all needed to be trained. Also they are cooking many thousands of meals a day and more than previous years because enrollment was up. They were all exhausted but finally some student workers were comming in regularly and they got rid of the no shows and everyone had a good amount of training.

David May, the guy who runs the entire dining and events programs at UNH shows up for a meeting. He talks about how he is using the schooling benefits to get his masters and how he encourages everyone to do they same and utilize their benefits. (About 25% of the people in the crowd had benefits, and a lot of them had been waiting to get them for years but were glanced over). Then he says... "You know, I look around and I just dont see a lot of hustle". Three people yelled out in indignation and everyone looked sour. HR was sitting right next to him. Surprised he made it out of there alive. The man is paid 6 figures.

David May from UNH is an asshat.
