Jan 1, daughter in er, needs gall bladder out. Deductible reset at midnight. $6k out of pocket. Christmas was 3 weeks ago. I literally have like $30 to my name until payday
Feb - clothes washer self destructs. Goodbye paycheck!
Mar - dishwasher motor burns up. Cheaper to buy a new one. Saved a little last month. Good bye to that!
Apr- father in law has a stroke. Wife takes leave of absence from work to go help out. Goodbye 1/3rd of our income (she's hourly, no benefits, no paid time off)
later on in Apr - well turns out we OWE taxes this year. Fuck me. No relief in sight and I've got a new bill to figure out how to pay.
may - hot water heater busts, floods garage while we are out of town helping out with father in law
June - our AC unit dies. Should be able to replace compressor for like $100 , but no. They've phased out the kind of freon it takes, and obviously that's a completely different thing. Here's a $2500 bill for an entirely new unit.
June -- also wife starts menopause. No shit. Great timing.
July - kid gets drivers license. Insurance skyrockets overnight
aug -- shingles are falling off my roof now. No storm or anything, they're just crappily installed. Gotta call a roofer. Goodbye paycheck!
Sept -- the clothes dryer is dead now. Whelp. At this point I might as well just close my savings account, because that shit just ain't happening ...
oct -- nothing bad happens. Except that 3 out of 5 people in my family have birthdays this month.
Nov -- mother fucking trump. Daughter is bullied at school shortly after, has bad reaction to antidepressant, we wind in er at midnight with out of control suicidal thoughts (she's a lot better now, thank god -- really was a bad reaction, scary AF)
Dec -- holy shit today is day #1. WTF else has this bastard of a year got in store for me? I'm scared to even find out
