What's the strangest date you've ever been on?

I met this girl online, we talked for a couple weeks. She was very cute and seemed really warm and kind, exactly what I was looking for after a relationships gone wrong. Unfortunately, she lived 90 minutes away, and when I was over halfway there I realized I'd forgotten my wallet. I was at the gym earlier and then got a shower. Since I don't bring my wallet in the gym, I thought it was still in my glove compartment, however apparently I'd brought it inside when I got a shower after the gym before leaving to meet her. I called her and immediately she thought I was just trying to flake. I assured her I wasn't and said I wanted to reschedule.

She seemed like that wasn't going to happen, but wanted to change our plans to meet instead at a restaurant closer to me after I went back and got my wallet. She said she wouldn't mind paying, but she was a little low on cash at the moment, and I wouldn't let her pay anyway.

I got home grabbed my wallet, and went back to the new restaurant, closer to me where we were going to meet. Initial reaction was that she was just my type and I was excited, however she seemed very nervous, like more than normal for a first date.

She had a 4 month old baby, and this was one of the first times she'd left the baby alone with her Mother. She said the baby had been having gas issues, so she couldn't eat anything with dairy. This wasn't a problem, because we were at a sushi restaurant and I double checked that everything we ordered was dairy-free.

My date was still extremely nervous and was talking really fast. Also, the main topic she kept talking about was her baby father who had just gotten out of jail and met her daughter for the first time, and her quasi-schizophrenic grandmother who she said had a problem with pain killers and had assaulted her own nurse recently.

We finished eating and said our goodbyes. I was pretty disappointed with the direction of the conversation on the night, and another failed connection.

However, the following week I was away on business at a pretty difficult training class. She texted me and was supportive throughout the week, and she didn't talk about her baby's father as much. I mentioned that I thought that was strange on our first date, and she said she just wanted to get everything out in the open as soon as possible.

Flash forward, 8 months later, we just got married and are expecting our first child at the end of the year. Pretty strange how things turned out. I still haven't met her grandmother, but she just got back from Florida so I'll probably meet her soon. Her/our daughter just turned 1 y.o. a couple weeks ago and the baby's father is not in the picture and isn't mentioned much at all. We are very much in love.
