What's your worst airline travel story?

This happened when I was 11 years old, I was flying to home in Virginia (US) from Florida, where I was visiting my aunt and cousins.

Well, I was among those boarded first, so I sat in my seat next the window. Please note that I was a very shy, polite child (still am, just not a child). Well, after just looking out the window, minding my own business and waiting for everyone to board, two women decided to sit next me after complaining out loud that there were no "window" seats. One was very heavyset and the other was average, must have been heavyset's daughter.

They're buckling their seat belts and both women are making really mean comments about me. Being a kid, I wasn't used to "mean strangers" who would berate a child for sitting in the window seat. Their comments were more talking between each other, but obviously loud enough so I could hear. Basically saying how it was unfair that I was there first, that I shouldn't be in a window seat, calling me a bitch and saying I was rude, etc.

Then the heavyset lady was so big her elbows dug into my sides while she was "trying" to buckle up. I'm not sure if she was taking her time so she could physically hurt me or if it was because she was so fat she was having difficulty.

It hurt a lot but I was so scared and embarrassed this was happening I just bit my lip and looked out the window. I remember my neck was starting to hurt because I kept staring out the window and didn't look towards the women. Actually one time I did, when I looked towards the stewardess who was passing out soda cans and cookies/chips. The women next to me took some but the heavyset one told the stewardess I didn't want any. I'm not sure if the stewardess didn't give a shit or if she thought we were related. (Not sure how, as I'm Filipino/white and the women were black, but maybe because I was just a young girl and she assumed I wasn't flying alone.)

After that awful flight I remember being so happy to see my mom, but was greeted grumpily because she was mad I cut the trip short (I was madly homesick). Overall sucky day :(
