When Pressured To Express Anger

Yes, and try to:

  1. Stay away as much as possible. If it's someone you live with, try and stay in your room unless you need food, water, use the bathroom, etc. Block their phone number and all their social media. If their friends start messaging you, asking why their friend was blocked, block them too without even responding to their questions.

  2. If they try to provoke you with more yelling, either threaten them ("If you don't shut up right now, I'll file a noise complaint with the police"), retreat (go into your room and lock the door), or just stand there, stare at them, and make them feel like an idiot. I find if they're the only one yelling and you stay calm, they end up getting embarrassed.

  3. Only talk to them if it's a response to a question they're asking you. When I gray-rock people the only answers I give are "yes" and "no" and "I don't know." If they try and ask a question that doesn't need a yes or a no, just ignore them. The most common one being "Why are you ignoring me?" Basically, if they ask a question that can't be answered with "yes" or "no" or "I don't know" (or any other variation), just pretend they aren't there. Like, don't even acknowledge their presence, don't even look at them, pretend you didn't hear them.
