"When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him." -Jonathon Swift

Trump actually secured less votes than the previous republican candidate Mitt Romney in 2012 and less but about the same as John Mcain in 2008. So in many ways this idea that trump was well liked or that racist people came out to vote for him or that he won over democrats is not very accurate. He lost votes for the republican party. The real telling numbers are the loss of votes Clinton produced for the Democrats. She lost signifigantly more votes for her party than Trump did for his. The elections results were more strongly determined by a failure of the democrats then by the succes of the republicans or Trump. In the last three presidental elections every candidate recived more popular votes than Clinton, and every candidate except Clinton recieved more votes than Trump. This was a competition between two losers with clinton being the bigger loser of the two. This was an election decided by apathy.
