4 stripe white belt here. Pretty sure I didn't get promoted to blue belt because I didn't go to a seminar, which had a belt ceremony after. I couldn't afford to go, but maybe I should've told someone that. Either way I don't think that it is fair if that is the reason why. The ceremony was about a month ago and I've gone at least twice a week since and haven't been talked to or been promoted. Every one who has 4 stripes gets promoted at a ceremony, at least that's the trend. I don't care that much about the belt but since I didn't pay for a seminar and may have been held back because of that, I'm a little sour.

Also the gym has some high membership fees even for just the basic classes. I can't do no-gi or any advanced class because I don't pay more, which I can't afford. There isn't any other option in the area so I'm stuck. Any advice, should I suck it up and go since I have no other option, or just bail? My experience is just soured and I've lost most motivation to go.
