Strength and Conditioning Megathread!

I’m just started running a tactical barbell inspired 531 program. Squat Bech Deadlift cluster. Training twice a week so I run through to 2 full 531 cycles in 3 weeks before recalculating percentages by adding 2.5kilos to bench and 5 kilos to squat and deadlift. Squat and bench are using normal 531 programming: 555, 333, 531, 555, 333, 531. To save my lower back and hips I’m running the deadlifts using normal percentage but all workouts are 531 to reduce the training volume at the heavier weights a bit, I tried my first week as a normal 555 for my dead lifts and I wasn’t sure I would make it back to my car or be able to grip the wheel when I got there.

I 1 rm tested a few weeks ago and my maxes on both my bench and squat have come down a bit on the last 6 months (getting old and dialled back the lifting to be better recovered for bjj) so right now the weights on those lifts are easily manageable. When they become too tough I’ll likely convert to the same scheme I’m doing with dead’s but I hope that by running each cycle twice before recalculating I will be able to rebuild some strength while not beating myself up as much as when I ran a more traditional 531 program.
