The GI Generation, a.k.a. “The Greatest Generation.” They were the ones who fought in WW2. The first Boomers weren’t born until after WW2 ended. Interestingly, the whole “trophy kids” line that Boomers love to spout came from the Greatest Generation in reference to the Boomer Generation. I decided to be weird & binge a bit of Andy Griffith to see just how well or horribly that show aged, & Andy (Greatest Gen) calls Opie (Boomer kid) a trophy kid & complains that kids these days don’t know what real competition or hard work is anymore - they just want (& sometimes get) a trophy for showing up. In that episode, I think Opie got an honorable mention in some contest or sport at school, & Andy was mad because Opie didn’t “deserve” it.
