Keep searching vs. start new construction

We gave up on buying a used home before we even started. We were ramping up working with our Realtor to start visiting homes when we found new construction and dove into it with excitement.

Sure the base plan went up $10,000 before we could sign a contract but I don't have to spend my weekends trolling homes, offering absurd bids, losing those bids and doing it all over again.

The biggest challenge we were facing is that we needed to have a one-story home not a one plus a bonus upstairs only a one story. Those are 1% of the available homes in the greater Raleigh area. When we found the unicorn one story new construction it made no sense to continue looking at used homes. We probably end up buying a used home for the same price for buying a new home. With the new home I can tailor it to my style while a used home odds are I'd be in for renovation and I do not want to do that.
