WIBTA if I didn’t tell my adoptive parents that I intend on looking for my birth family and that I’m in touch with them, if I do get in touch with them?

Yeah that's awesome! I wish you luck! So yeah since you sound open to having these people be in your life, it's pretty much mandatory to give your adoptive parents a heads up now preferably over dinner. Out of respect for them, and to make your own life easier.

Hear me out on this though. I was raised by my birth parents and they were awful and abusive and I would trade anything to have great wonderful loving parents even if they were adoptive. I spent most of my childhood with friends families that recognized I was being abused and neglected and it's because of them I have a healthy life today. I'm not saying your birth parents are bad for any reason, I'm saying be extremely thankful and respectful to your adoptive parents if they raised you right because you are very lucky to have them regardless of genetics.
