Wife had a stroke. Need to protect family and estate.

******I believe school loans are forgiven after 3 years of showing proof of disability. There is a thing with student loans called a Voluntary Forbearance where you might not have to pay a dime for 3 years to hold you off if it is via Navient. (Most people don't know about it. You have to ask for it and agree to it.) There is also an economic hardship forbearance. You could possibly get her to do a power of attorney paper where you could take control of her finances on her behalf as a principle. You have to apply to Social Security for benefits. Depending on your state, they may approve of them, they may not. There is a thing called a "life estate" that automatically transfers estates without the use of a probate court. You may want to check into it all. I am not a financial advisor nor am I giving you financial advice. I'm telling you this through experience. Research on your own to be sure and talk to an attorney.
