I think it’s good to be thinking clearly and intentionally about your drinking behavior. I think it’s good to have rules and expectations for yourself. And if it turns out in the end that you are an alcoholic it’s not the end of the world. Alcoholics learn to moderate despite all the hubbub you see around Reddit. Many alcoholics and at risk alcoholics use medications like Naltrexone to help them follow their drinking rules. Many of these people accidentally end up bringing their alcohol behaviors to extinction. You may have seen posts around here about The Sinclair Method and a documentary called One Little Pill. Maybe worth a look just to consider for your back pocket.
