Maybe among women, that may be the case. I won't be so arrogant as to speak for all woman kind. But among men joking and venting are often used in conjunction.
His statement was meant to have several meanings depending on the reader:
To the actual person he was responding to it was a slap in the face meant to make her shut up and go away. It seems to have worked. It was directly addressing the female tendency towards thought policing and over reaction. It may have been mean, but it was also venting, although perhaps in this case a better word would be EXASPERATION that some woman would come here and tell him what he can and cannot talk about. This is after all /r/MGTOW
To the men of the group, it was signaling an inside joke (That discussion of women's hair was OPPRESSION worse than RAPE) Two words that a lot of men see as completely worn out and over used to the point that they have lost their meaning as much more than a punch line.

Of course we don't think ALL feminists equate MOST things to rape. Most feminists never think beyond equal rights for all hooray! But SELF IDENTIFIED feminists are another story. They can sometimes be the biggest fucking CUNT supremacists you'll ever meet. And FAR more common than white supremacists or male supremacists because they have free reign to say what ever they want whenever the want and are rarely called out.
Feminism has a bad name because of the second type mentioned here has become the face of feminism, plus the FACT that the so called REAL feminists never seem to have much trouble with what the extreme feminists have to say. This is why so many men independently come to the conclusion that feminism is bull and some of them just want a place where they can say that freely.
