“The work of Christ is to fight for justice, feed the poor, and clothe the naked. Whatever political party you have, let’s make sure it is Christian,”

From the moment I first developed an interest in politics and political issues, this has been my focus. What group, what party, expresses to the largest degree the work of God?

Sadly, where I live, the answer is not "a Christian party". Here, Christian parties have contributed to worsening poverty, cutting benefits, removing support for the sick and elderly, harmful privatization of many previously government-held services (in particular in the health sector), and in return sought to only maintain 'traditional' values such as the closing of shops on sundays, the limiting of abortions and euthenasia, and recently the teaching of the national anthem to schoolchildren. A further disappointment has been the merciless and heartless stance of Christian politicians on immigration and immigrants' rights.

Words cannot express just how disappointed I am that anyone who would call himself ""Christian" would purposefully turn their back on the poor and ill.

Now, I've been a member of the Socialist Party for years, though I actually feel a communistic society holds the most promise of actually clothing the naked, feeding the poor and all that. The atheist element of orthodox communism does not appeal, but I've grown to become firmly convinced that capitalist society and economy in itself (with its placing of greed and self-interest on the highest of pedestals, the veneration of wealth and the dismissive disregard of the billions of people worldwide who were not so lucky as to be born in a first world country) is entirely disgusting, satanic, and runs contrary to everything God meant for the world to be. Christ must be appalled. I know I am.
