Working-class Reddit: what was your worst day at work that took a little piece of your soul, no matter how many years ago?

Well, it has been only few years since I got into the working life so I only have few piled up and I guess the worst one was during the black friday time when I was working as a saleswoman at this shop. It was like the British version of ikea but low quality lol so they wanted to make the prices twice more expensive than they were and add new labels saying it’s %80 off. The problem was that we had literally thousands of products and there were only 6 of us who were asked to both sell stuff and in every spare moment do the labeling on working hours and also come do night shifts. Of course it wasn’t enough, which brings us to that day of shame. That morning when everyone came to work, half of the labels weren’t done and all the costumers around the neighborhood got an automatic message saying there’s %80 discounts every single thing in the shop. And we were told to lie to the costumers about the wrong labels as “this label is wrong, you have to go check it on the cash point” but the thing was almost all of the costumers were regulars so they knew the prices before and it was pure chaos involving a lot of karens yelling and throwing stuff. We were the ones who had to deal with the people saying there is a policy called “whatever says on the tag is valid and the customer is right” which is totally true. It was so fucking frustrating that I quit work a day after, should have done that sooner lmao
