The world should stand up to Washington’s bullying behavior, Iran’s foreign minister was quoted as saying on Sunday by state media in a letter to counterparts, as the top diplomat intensifies efforts to save a nuclear deal after a U.S. exit.

You were the one quoting that White House statement to make your point.

If ‘kicking the can down the road’ means strengthening economic and diplomatic ties with Iran over the years, which is what has been happening, such that abandoning that would be all the worse for them by the end of the current deal, and therefore putting nukes farther out of their reach, all the while developing the basis for a new future settlement, then so be it.

Please don’t be so disingenuous. The current strategy of extreme belligerence makes no sense, other than to curb Iranian influence encroaching upon American hegemony in the Middle East. Foreign policy experts were tearing their hair out when Bolton came in precisely because of his views on this.
