[WP] Ghosts and spirits are real, they just typically chose to roam the oceans, forests, jungles, and terrains without fear of dying, instead of haunting humans

"I'm bored," I told Mike, as we stood on Mount Everest's summit. The sun was shining brightly down on us, a good weather for a climb, though it wouldn't make any difference to us anyway. Ghosts can't really feel the weather. Below us, several climbers were slowly making their way up, decked in bright yellow and read climbing gear.

Mike floated around me, his face deep in thought. "How about the Mariana Trench then? Been a while since we visited."

I shook my head. "No, we've been there more than enough already. Besides, there's really nothing to see there besides darkness. We might be immune to the crushing pressure of the sea, but we don't have super vision."

"Aww, you sure about that? I thought you like swimming."

I slapped Mike on his shoulder. "You know that's not counted if we just float through water."

He laughed as he glided down the mountain. That cute laugh of his. I followed him closely, barely resisting my smile too. It has been more than a decade since I met Mike, in a bleak and cold morgue back in New York. I still remembered seeing him, standing at a corner, studying my soul as it left my body.

"Why?" was his first words to me, as he stared at the huge slash across my wrist.

I had a tough life growing up. My dad was a no good idiot who saw me more as a body to relieve his sexual tensions and my mother couldn't care less. Though it was not like the other people I met outside of my house were any better. Everyone whom I knew only saw me as a person whom they can exploit, manipulate. Death was really my only option.

Mike's second was "Come", followed by him grabbing my hand, and pulling me away from the morgue, and outside into the sunshine.

"I know where to go," he simply said. Since then, we've been travelling the world, visiting oceans, forests and terrains, to every imaginable place on earth. Places that I could have never visited when I was alive.

"I guess we can visit the rest of the universe!" Mike suddenly exclaimed, as our souls reached Base Camp on Everest. Numerous tents were perched around the area, with aspiring climbers going in and out of them.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Think about it, there's so much left to explore out there! And we could literally see what no other humans have seen before. And there's no fear of death! It's like the ultimate trip! Maybe answer the age old question of whether aliens exist!" Mike was clearly excited about the idea.

"And how we're going to leave earth?"

"We can sneak up the next rocket launch to the ISS I guess, just be careful about sneaking up on them. The last time I did that, I caused the whole shuttle to explode," he joked and I laughed.

He inched closer to me, his fingers wrapping around mine. "Besides, that will be one hell of a date, don't you think?"

A familiar smile flashed across his face. I guess finding your soulmate can happen after death too.
