[wp] Whenever you stumble, it is caused by you dying in a parallel universe. The stumble changes events enough to save your life.

It wasn't the hulking knight that I was afraid of, it was my inevitable capture and the torture to follow. I was an enemy of the lords and I was going to pay in blood.

"Where is the rebel hideout! You're uprising will be crushed as swiftly as it came! The head of the snake will be severed!"

They sounded like birds mimicking irritating shrieks they thought to be decrees from god. The woods were thick and the sun pierced through the forest canopy. A knight swung his claymore. He would have created an opening for my intestines to vacate my insides, but my balance left before my bowls could and I stumbled down a ravine.

A white light filled my vision and a nasty scene of a man being shot point blank by a cannon ball rippled through my head. The image shattered and so did my body as it tumbled down an earthy crag. The fall ended at a river. I rubbed my arm and turned my head to see the bulky silver suits of armor cautiously descending the crag. I ran along the river bank only to be met by a man on horse back with a guard of two more silver knights.

"Ah, well. The snake's head has been caught in the talons of the falcon." The man smiled.

"I am not the leader of a rebellion! I am not an assassin! I am not trying to dethrone the lords your grace. I am just a simple apprentice who wishes to return to his master's keep."

"You're master dabbles in power that could end the golden age! His tower has already been sacked and a troupe of hunters are hot on his trail."

"He has done nothing..."

"Enough! Samuel arrest this treacherous creature. My ears grow deaf with every word his tongue spins."

A silver knight and his comrade began closing the distance and my rear was covered by the knights who had successfully descended the hill. I began to panic. My eyes were darting with such speed that my vision was blurred. I held my hands together and began whispering the oath. Then I spoke the phrase for 'Mighty Push'. Blue wind swirled in my palms. I began to panic even more. I had never gotten past the oath let alone harnessing the Kos. The blue wind swirled with greater intensity. The lord's horse began to buck. The knights seemed more interested in the magic then my capture.

"Hurry! He'll kill us all!" The lord shouted.

I held the twisting power in my hands and began raising it towards the lord and his guard.

The horse bucked the lord off his back. The knights leaped towards me with killing intent. The sky grew bright white. Then I saw a man sitting in a sort of chariot. An arrow flew through the air and pierced his chest. I spoke the release.

My knee buckled and I was launched across the river.

The sun was setting and I found myself on wet sand by a waterfall. My luck seemed to have returned to normal. Why it was acting out, I don't know. But the vision, before I stumbled into the king, was one I will never forget. It was this vision that was so different from the others I had witnessed my entire life. The stumble that christened me a criminal and assassin of the king, was triggered by a vision of my own death by the hands of myself.
