In your opinion, is it wrong for men to mindlessly swipe right? Why or why not?

They're not wrong. If men were pickier, women would obviously get fewer likes by definition. This has multiple beneficial effects. Because women get fewer likes, they don't receive the same ego boost or illusion of choice which encourage them to be increasingly picky. Because women get fewer likes, an individual man is more likely to be seen by the women he does like. Because women get fewer bad matches, they don't get burned out as quickly sorting through their matches which contributes to the gender imbalance on the app.

The issue is it's a bit of a prisoner's dilemma. If every man is well-behaved, the rogue man who indiscriminately swipes on everyone will get more matches and more opportunities by crowding out the good guys. The good guys have to start indiscriminately swiping to "take back" the opportunities the first guy is taking away. Before you know it, enough guys are indiscriminately swiping that women's egos (and resulting pickiness) are in the stratosphere or they're so burnt out that they leave the app. And now you have this horrible feedback loop of male desperation and female entitlement.

So it's up to the apps to curtail this behavior. The best solution is severely limiting daily likes, which a lot of people hate but some apps do employ (such as Hinge's 10/day). However, to be effective the app would also have to not monetize the ability for users to bypass the limit plus the algorithm would need to be well-designed for optimal matching rather than bleeding lonely men's wallets dry. Like that'll ever happen.
