You're an idiot in a room full of confirmed geniuses. How do you prevent them from taking all of your money and belongings?

I was in a situation like this recently. I am an editor and I applied for this course to strengthen my video skills. It was programme where you meet with, directors, producers, festival organizers and editors who work in feature movies. Now I worked in an ad company for a while and do watch festival movies from time to time but these people where experts at their field and they were talking about how Romanian art house movies where on the rise or a Hungarian director who shows great potential, things like that. So I kept my mouth shut and just smiled and nodded. I'm sure they realized that I don't have any idea on what they were talking about but at least I survived. Granted they weren't trying to get my money or anything like that.
