Because Democrats are obsessed with 'playing fair' and 'following the rules' and 'trying to be bipartisan'. It's why Republicans walk all over the Democrats and the Dems whine about it but nothing actually gets done. Dems would have NEVER done what the Republicans did with the SCOTUS that happened under Diaperdon and Mitch. But what they will do is constantly concede and back down and be 'bipartisan' and then be shocked when republicans turn out to by hypocrites and lying sacks of shit and then be further shocked when republicans don't care about things like the truth. Dems can't heel turn half as hard either; I guarantee when Biden gets in the republicans will but whining as loud as possible about covid being out of control and the federal deficit.

I'm not saying this makes them a bad party because parties shouldn't behave like the republicans but it's staggering how weak and ineffective democrats are against republican assorted shenanigans and coup attempts. Something something centrism enabling fascism something something. I desperately hope that as the old guard die or retire we see a resurgence of actual progressiveness in the dem party. Or at least something to break this milquetoast ineffectual centrism they keep propping up.

Hopefully now that Republicans have gone completely mask off maybe Dems will be more proactive about things but I doubt it until the old guard are gone.
