In 2013, I came here and wrote a 72,000 word novelization of FFVI that earned me a talk with SE about book rights. That wasn't meant to be, in the end, but I'm still very proud of it.

I can see hiw this could be a really good exercise for an aspiring author, but maybe now is the time to start developing your own ideas, instead of trying to sell this, especially if you want to establish a name for yourself (and, you know, not become a target for litigation).

Fan novelizations have come across FF boards many times over the years, and plenty of other game series, and I can't imagine much demand for this sort of thing. Fanfiction prequels /sequels/spinoff s are one thing. But here you've got the same story without the gameplay, without the music, without the graphics, without the interaction, without the exploration, without the atmosphere, without the strategy, without the grinding, without the expanding difficulty curve, without the immersive factors that make the experience what it is. I feel like you'd have to be the Hemingway of your generation to make up for all that (which you may well be for all I know ; I didn't read it).

I'd be curious to see it read by someone who's never heard of the game, and see what they think.
