i often mix in with the nomadic folk when biking around atx. the standard of living for bums here is really high. ive heard one say "oh yeah this city will feed you well" the other bums in the group looked at him like he was letting out a secret haha. the white haired lady at 360 and bee caves has been there for 5+ years. there's endless story's that she has a car, house, smart phone. the one bum that doesn't need it gets the best corner and holds it down for five years? she's gonna ruin it for the ones who may actually need our help. i guess the art of bumming is lingering in the grey area so that no one can judge your ability. if the white haired regular is a fraud, we should encourage her to pass the torch to someone who is actually in need. I could be wrong though, maybe she brings her earnings back to the campsite where she divides it up between the extremely disabled bums that couldn't find a corner at all. in that case she would be a very noble human. because its so hard to know who actually deserves it and who doesn't, it makes the system really easy to take advantage of and fucks it up for the ones who need us the most.
