4 Dead, 52 Wounded in Weekend Shootings Across Chicago. This marks the second weekend in a row where more than 50 people were shot in Chicago. Last weekend, eight people were killed and at least 45 others were wounded

not living in Englewood or Austin and you're not in a gang (~80% of gun violence in the city is gang-related), you're in a very safe American city.

As a Chicagoan this is correct, these shootings might as well be on the moon for me, but.... Chicago is something like 30% ghetto at this point. Almost the entire south AND west side, ignoring a couple community areas, is very, very poor. Like below half the median household income for cook county. And that money is mostly tied to federal, state, and city entitlements and benefits (welfare). The 2nd map on this page illustrates this well, shame it doesn't have the city limits drawn as it extends out to the suburbs but as you can see the only propserous neighborhoods are downtown, near downtown, and the north side. Chicago doesn't have an East side.

Our gang member per capita is pretty high, higher than LA's. So there's a lot more to this story than just "guns are easy to get in this area."

Guns are NOT illegal in Chicago, they're just onerous to purchase.

There are major, major roadblocks to legally get a gun. I have no idea why, the criminals all have them. Its more than "onerous," its the city putting up every roadblock it legally can to stop legal gun ownership.

everywhere the black people hold the majority is violent and uncivilized"

I'm not going to address this, but the west side population is latino. Latinos and blacks make up our poorest citizens and their communities have falled into gangland politics and gangland economics. Kids drop out of school to sell drugs and be gangsters. Alderman treat gangs like a political bloc and cater to them. CPD doesn't go after gangs, doesn't break them up, and has an unofficial "let them be" policy. We've normalized gangster life in these neighborhoods and these neighborhoods are like 50% of the population.

Blacks are also the largest ethnic group in Chicago, with whites a close second and then latinos. Yet black communities have strict "no snitching" policies to protect gangmembers. Why is this? Address this. Its not racist to point this out and all these looney left cries of "racism" means we'll never address these problems correctly.
