Is 7 years too long to wait for a proposal? why or why not?

Unfortunately this absolutely happens, I was with a guy for 11 years, started dating young with marriage and kids talk in the future, he kept putting it off... It was at the point where I almost wanted to give him an ultimatum but eventually I caught him cheating and ended it. Thank God for a bullet dodged.

My ex then tries to come back to me after having the AUDACITY to be upset that the girl he was cheating on him with LIED to him about her being married. I had no sympathy and didn't want him back. He had to move in with a roommate, met his best friend who was a girl and then proposed to her after like 4 months of meeting her and about 6 months after we broke up, it's been about -5 years now and they are STILL engaged.

Since then I've met and married my now husband, dated for 2 engaged for 6 months and then married for a year.
