I absolutely love getting involved when a cusomter is harassing an employee.

I 100% support you and am so so thankful for you, but just be careful about where you do this. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life, and I’ve had many jobs where this wouldn’t affect me at all, but I currently work as a hotel front desk agent, and I’d get in a lot of trouble if I allowed guests to argue like what you described. Technically, if this happened at my hotel, I would be forced to kick both parties out.

Just a few days ago, a review came in that said the night auditor allowed a fight to break loose in the hotel while I was the only employee on duty, and without the camera footage confirming I had no knowledge of the fight, I would have been fired, no questions asked. These review requests are sent to every person that stays at the hotel.

I hate to be the devils advocate in these situations where I 100% support one side, but there’s a reason employees are the ones in charge. There are a lot of legalizes and corporate rules that only we are able to enforce. But I encourage you to keep going. There are so many terrible people on this earth that try to take advantage of hourly employees. Just make sure to “read the room”.
