If you two had everything picked out and you did exactly what she wanted as a surprise, I'd be on your side, but you didn't even do that. You picked it all out solo based on what she's vaguely talked about. That's downright cruel. Decorating a kids room is a big deal due to nesting. Undo what you did, apologize, and THINK next time.
