AITA for giving my brother-in-law, a recovering alcoholic, a bottle of bourbon?

So your solution for the rest of your life is to just avoid being near alcohol? Sounds like you are the type of addict who would drink if offered. You also don't speak for all addicts. Personally I think if you have to be bubble wrapped to avoid your addiction then you aren't exactly making progress. Where does personal responsibility come into play for you? When are you even resisting temptation? If you just avoid doing that it's gonna be harder any time you do face it. I relapsed 6 months ago and haven't drunk since but I can be around alcohol because I know I am the only one responsible for my choices. If you treat addicts like babies they will be babies, like you.
