This. My oldest spends his time between houses, week on week off. He has two little brothers in my house and I literally plan their parties around when he's going to be with us. We do not get along with his other parent and it just makes more sense to do things on our time vs having her accommodate us. That being said, she planned her baby shower for her new baby, on our time, and then asked us to bring him to it. Despite not getting along with her and the way she is adamant we don't see him on her time, HE wanted to be there, and it was about a baby that is going to be his little sibling. So we made sure he was there, because his feelings and bonds are more important than conflict between adults.
