Alabama teen sues police over being tased 3 times while having a seizure during hip hop concert. Suit says mother showed up in pajamas, was tased too.

Ok, enough speculation. Not that it really matters. If you hate cops, then You'll always hate them No matter what evidence you are given.

The city and the police will easily win this lawsuit. Do you think for a split second that the city would defend all of these officers if they were guilty of a crime? You see, when a police officer performs his/her job they are acting under the authority of law. If they break the law, the city can terminate them and the officers are on their own in regards to the civil suit. When this happens, and if the officer loses the suit, they can expect to have any of their future earnings garnished until they are old men/women.

BUT, if the officers are acting lawfully and with good faith, the City will vehemently defend them at the city's cost. Now, let me ask you this. You think if these officers were, in fact breaking the law for No reason and were bored and felt like assaulting two females, that the city would defend them? It would be so much cheaper to fire them. And labor laws or union regs do not matter. Those agreements are null and void if the officer is guilty of a crime.

In reference to the article posted, there are so many facts missing it's appalling. But, that is to be expected. Right now, you only have the mom and daughters version being released. Silence on the part of the City gives the appearance of guilt, or fear. In every single lawsuit brought against the government, the government lawyers demand silence from all of it's employees. "No comment" is the mantra that everyone hears.

I'm not involved in this lawsuit, so I can tell you what I know. The girl was apparently having a violent seizure. For those who have never experienced this it's a chaotic situation. She wasn't just laying there. People were attempting to assist her, but She was physically fighting these people. Did She know what She was doing? Of course not. Now, here you are at a concert, you have already broken a few scuffles here and there, and now from a distance you see multiple people involved in a "fight." You rush over to separate everyone, but one person keeps resisting and striking officers. The officers attempted to restrain her with their hands and when they realized they were risking injury to her and them, they increased their use of force to the tazer. Which, surprisingly worked like it's suppose to.

The allegation of a choke hold and throwing her on the ground is someone's interpretation of something that didn't happen.

The mother frantically arrived, and rightfully so. She was concerned for her child. But, where she made a huge mistake was getting physical with officers, and not backing off when told to do so. She too was tazed for failing to comply with an officers order. At this time, the cops were still dealing with the daughter. A person who is violently seizing is displaying nearly the same behavior as someone who is high on drugs or someone who is mentally unstable.

This entire situation is unfortunate for everyone involved. But, the officers will not lose their job nor will the city pay a dime. The officers were acting well within the good faith exception.
