Alpha Investments on Kaladesh and inventions

I assume everyone here knows the history of the Baseball card market. I include this link for those that don't.

Considering Kaladesh, it reminds me of the special foiled rookies and reprints as the baseball/basketball card industry tried to juice the market in the mid-90s. I have some reservation about the similarity of these special inserts and the new Inventions.

One factor of the mid-90s story though was the emerging online market which caused the decline of the local shop and flooding the market with cards no one wanted. There really isn't anything similar today. MtG is primarily a game and Magic cards have a use regardless of intrinsic and investment potential.

If a bubble pops, it will be a buyers market that will eventually return a profit. This prospect is exciting to me. This would be especially sweet if the overall economy continues it's stuttering growth through this painful, almost stagflationary recovery. Those with the means will have a heyday while the market is at it's lowest and the personal risk is equally as low. If this eventuality happens, some people will be very happy. (I am some people).
