AMA with ACT Leader David Seymour - taking questions NOW

David, under your bill what would the conditions be before euthanasia could be used? I recently lost my grandmother which made me reconsider my stance on the issue. Before now I was against it as I was afraid people would use it to get rid of "burdens", but i now think its a good idea as long as the only one who can make the decision is the one in question i.e. they are still of sound mind. My grandmother would have been a prime candidate as she developed breathing issues, rushed to hospital and ended up in icu on a machine to breathe. She decided she wanted no more assistance staying alive so was given something to stay comfortable but she took 2 and a half days to pass, where she probably was hoping for something quicker but the nurses hands are tied with what they can currently do.

My heart wants to vote for ACT, but my brain isnt so sure as you are not polling close enough to the second mp and national might need my vote to keep the greens out government. I don't know which way I am voting but alot of Acts policies apeal to me, so I wish you well in the campaign.
