Americans who went abroad for an education due to cost, are you glad you did it or do you regret it?

Thanks. I taught at universities in France and US. Can definitely certify that in my field at least (stem) there is a huge gap in terms of students level (not their fault, its the program) and content of the programs. Which is very light in the US. May not be true in all fields, and a good student will be good everywhere, but for an average student out of these programs, they don't come out at the same level nor with same knowledge.

Europeans are also very attached to double/triple check every single things while Americans tend to show results that are not completely proof check, cultural difference I guess, but also coming from this difference in education. It's a big deal in my field and for me when I am to recruit/ decide to work with someone. Americans on the other hand have other qualities and I appreciate to work with them. Its not black and white. But responding to the question of difference in education, it makes no doubt to me that I'm glad I didn't studied in the US
