Anonymous takes credit for massive cyberattack on Turkey. "The attack left more than 400,000 websites down in Turkey". The government eventually had to cut off all foreign Internet traffic coming to “.tr” websites, the domain for Turkey, to mitigate the assault

I used to have some respect for the idea behind Anonymous, but this kind of pointless waste of man power and server power just makes me think that people who call themselves "Anonymous" nowadays, are ignorant, do not understand what they are doing, and want to feel like they are part of a cause.

Why paint such a broad target and hurt everyone? Why hurt the individuals and business owners who rely on DNS servers to access information, be productive, and make a living and do absolutely nothing to the ACTUAL target? Why waste time lowering the collective productivity of humanity?

If you actually wanted to make a difference, and you actually had the skill to do so, you would specifically target the people at the top.

It's very low level stuff to setup a botnet or DDOS a DNS server that millions of people rely on. It takes skill and time to actually target the people, and find the servers that matter and execute a real operation.

I have visited Turkey and the people there are just like you and me. It is an incredibly western culture, composed of 99.9% muslims(!!) and it is a shining example of a budding productive economy in the region - especially considering the nearby countries and issues to the south. Do you realize how many great websites and services are based in Turkey? Put.io is a shinning example that I'm sure TONS of redditors use. Thankfully they don't use a .tr domain.

Not only that, but Turkey itself is one of the western world's GREATEST allies in that region in the fight against terrorism. Their people work for pennies to manufacture clothing and luxury goods that are consumed in the United States every day.

It's very easy to read headlines on reddit, scroll through some comments by people who have no idea what they're talking about, and get behind a movement that will accomplish absolutely nothing. It might feel productive, but it's actually just a colossal waste of time for everyone involved and affected.

I have more respect for the people who work in Digital Devisions of government like the US Digital Services and thwart this kind of bullshit from happening to us.

Kids need to get a real job and stop wasting the time of people who are actually trying to accomplish things.
