Any advice or words of encouragement for a student

MLS school is hard. We have a pathologist at my hospital that went to MLS school before medical school. She compares it to the first year of medical school. As someone who teaches in Micro, it is not uncommon for you to have trouble finding the organisms on a gram stain slide. If you want a trick... put a line of sharpie on your slide. Find that on your slide first and then move to the gram stain. I still use that trick sometimes when I am gram staining a body fluid. Medical lab Micro is totally different than the microbiology class you had in college. I struggled mightily with Blood Bank in MLS school. Realize your failures now are not indicative of your future. But... use these feelings as motivation to get better. I did it, I know you can too.
