Can't find a job (MLT) ?????

The funny thing is that I've taught two of these bio new grads during my time at my last job. Nothing against them, they're filling a need in the field, but neither knew anything about the clinical lab. They were very slow to start, and took twice as long as MLTs and MTs because their education was generic science, and they did not take clinicals. My MLT program was 3 years (one year of pre-reqs and two years of full time year round (winter and summer included) of med tech classes. Our program was funded by John's Hopkins Hospital. It's a smack in the face when an HR rep tells me that "you only qualify for a lab assistant position at $15 per hour because the bachelor's degree (generic bio majors included) have a more rigorous understanding of the clinical laboratory field". Sorry for the rant, I'm at my wits end here. I guess I'm just going to work at a grocery store that at least pays $18/hr....
