This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t fully agree with non survivors telling me how forums are so helpful. Maybe it is helpful for your everyday person. The problem is that a lot of people aren’t familiar with survivors who have had some complex experiences. Asking for advice from uninformed people can be traumatizing.

I am glad that subs and forums for survivors exist. Some of the survivors I have met online have provided some of the best insight.

My point is that someone like me is better off being selective with who I share my thoughts and experiences too. Non-survivors don’t understand how MORE traumatic it is to have some jerk online minimize and gaslight you.
