Any of you military folks ever gotten a concealed carry permit approved in California? If so what was your reasoning and how’d you do it?

Depends on your county of residence, I can help you walk through the process, although I strongly recommend you look up those information on the issuing agencies' website. I'm currently an instructor for ccw permits in Cali, so I am strictly forbidden to directly tell you what to write as "good causes" to your Sheriff's or PD to help you "increase your odds". However, typical causes include, self-defense, home-defense, camping, certain jobs which may make you appear more vulnerable to attacks and thus justify concealed carry in public, certain local laws or bills that could potentially make the streets more dangerous, etc.......

As long as you can justify your reasons to the issuing officer and pass the vibe during the interview, you are good.
