It was a nice humid summer in Quantico Virginia around 2005. There I was young Cpl waiting to withdraw some money at the ATM. SgtMaj was standing in front of me and an unknown Marine withdrawing in front of him. SgtMaj was just minding his own business waiting patiently when the Marine got done with his business at the ATM he turned around and I noticed he was a young butter bar. Me being a newly promoted Cpl I snapped and saluted and said good morning sir. SgtMaj ignored him. The officer addressed SgtMaj and said. “You’re not going to salute me SgtMaj?” SgtMaj without missing a step responded “when you’re Able to carry the chevron I’ll salute you. Step forward to the ATM and ignored the LT.
