Anyone else feeling like this lockdown's going to be the end of them?

Yeah something I've learned as I've grown up is as much as you friends, family, employer and gov talk a big game about mental health the facts on the ground is you will be stigmatised, and people will use this information to inform how they think about you.

Even if you open up to a doctor about suicide you're as likely to get reasonable help as you are to be institutionalised.

A history of mental illness can be used against you in work too, and I work for a highly unionized public sector employer. They might not come out and say this but it will be. I asked to transfer years ago because that current job culture was very toxic and was told that they would try and find me a place, but if they couldn't they may have to let me go. Couldnt fucking believe it. Basically, "fuck up and deal with it".

Theres a LOT of mental health lip service in this country. But it's just lip service.

People wonder why suicide rate is so high here. Because for some people there is no other option. No matter how many times people drone on about it's not the end you just need to talk to someone, and that someone may effectively betray you for speaking up.
